I'm Alisha. I'm 18. I'm losing weight by doing a combination of the slimming world diet and exercise. I have to take xenical tablets to help because I have polycystic ovaries and polycystic ovarian syndrome.

But, if you never ate the food in list 4 then you’d get a big craving for them as they’re ‘forbidden fruit’ and when you do go to eat them you’ll eat far too much and feel bad. Everything in moderation :)

Why does fiber help you lose weight?
1. Fiber keeps you full for a longer period of time because it takes longer to digest so that you are less likely to snack before the next meal
2. Fiber rich foods are usually lower in calories than refined foods
3. Fiber acts like a sponge in your digestive tract absorbing some carbs, fat, and sugars
4. For every 1g of fiber ingested your body extracts 7 cals in your stool…this means that if you ate 35g of fiber a day you’d excrete 245 cals in your stool!
5. Double your fiber intake from 12 to 24g/day and you’ll cut your caloric absorption by 90 cals (according to the US Dept. of Agriculture’s study)…this means 9.4 lbs lost in a year for the avg. woman. This of course only applies if you REPLACE your refined foods for fiber-rich foods. You can’t just eat what you’re eating PLUS fibrous foods and expect a weight loss. You must swap.

Hey, my name's Alisha too funnily enough. I'm trying to lose weight myself but I was wondering how do you find the slimming world diet? I'm wondering on whether it's a good investment..

Hello lovely :)
Woo for having good names!
Basically, the slimming world diet is the only one that has ever worked for me. You can eat as much as you like, and I mean LOADS some days I can’t even walk I’ve eaten that much and you don’t have to exercise to lose weight.
You just join a group/or online and you start on the extra easy plan, which is unlimited carbs e.g. pasta, rice, potatoes and unlimited lean meat and unlimited vegetables. Plus one healthy extra A which is your calcium e.g. cheese, milk. and one healthy extra B which is your fibre, e.g. brown bread etc. Then ontop of that you get 5-15 syns which is for your naughty stuff, e.g. chocolate, fats etc.

If you go on the website www.slimmingworld.com there is more information, or you can buy their magazine in supermarkets.

I hope you have a nice day :) x
